Ms. Kawai has worked in business immigration law since 1996. Prior to joining Tafapolsky & Smith LLP, Ms. Kawai was an Immigration Paralegal at Cooley Godward LLP, where she assisted large and mid-sized multinational corporations on employment and family-based immigration matters.

Utilizing her bilingual skills, Ms. Kawai assists Japanese and U.S. companies in processing nonimmigrant visa petitions and employment- and family-based permanent residence applications. She has assisted companies in the fields of telecommunications, semiconductors, software development, industrial product manufacturing, computer arts, advertisement, and automotive component manufacturing.

Ms. Kawai is also experienced in filing amended petitions resulted from mergers & acquisitions, spin-offs, or corporate restructuring, as well as Schedule-A green card applications for registered nurses.

Ms. Kawai has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Language and Culture from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. She is fluent in Japanese and co-authored an English textbook for individuals pursuing degrees in medical care, entitled ?NEW English for Medical Care.?
